Cait Yaga (she/her) is a queer, neurodivergent author, editor, and avid reader who unapologetically explores themes of resilience, agency, power, and morality. Her stories are gritty, unflinching, and propulsive, as is her commitment to her craft, and her writing has a gothic twist that will send chills up your spine long after you've put it down.

You can often find her with an iced Americano delving into a story in
any medium, or reading in the bath until the water is cold. Her best
ideas come late at night, making her most productive in the witching hour.

Favourite Reads

Some of her all-time favourite reads include Cultish by Amanda Montell, Sour Cherry by Natalia Theodoridou, The Lies of the Ajungo by Moses Ose Utomi, Lone Women by Victor LaValle, The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab, The Poppy War Trilogy by R. F. Kuang, and The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty.

Writing Experience

Yaga has established herself in the industry by collaborating with local publishers, volunteering with creative writing groups, and promoting fellow authors. She is currently the intern editor at Laberinto Press and the lead editor of MacEwan University's Creative Writing Club, The Bolo Tie Collective. She is completing her degree in Professional Communications with a specialization in editing and publishing to complement her eight years of experience as a professional writer.

Publications

Yaga has two pieces in The Bolo Tie Collective’s upcoming 2025 Anthology IX—her poem, “Time,” and her flash fiction, “Perhaps Tomorrow." In addition, her short story, "The Plainest Door" was published in the War of the Words Volume II Anthology. She is currently querying for her debut fantasy novel.

If you can include reading more than 80 books a year, she does that too.
